Besseggen: credits and licenses

All four datasets are Norwegian public open data, downloaded without an account or a Norge
digitalt login. Each license below was read from a live Geonorge record on 2026-09-22; the exact
records, statements and URLs are quoted in the pipeline's source notes.

TERRAIN
Nasjonal høydemodell, Digital terrengmodell DTM1 (1 m), © Kartverket.
Open data: NLOD 2.0 (https://data.norge.no/nlod/no/2.0/) and Creative Commons BY 4.0
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
Retrieved 2026-09-22 from the hoyde-dtm-nhm-25833 WCS / NHM_DTM_25833 ImageServer.
Capture projects covering this area: NDH Jotunheimen 4pkt 2017, NDH Jotunheimen 2pkt 2022,
NDH Vågå-Lom-Skjåk 5pkt 2018, NDH Vågå-Lom-Skjåk 2pkt 2019, Jotunheimen isbre 2009.
Adaptations: subset to two boxes in EPSG:25833; the detailed box fetched as a single 2 m grid and
decimated locally with a separable [1,2,1]/4 binomial low-pass to 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 m; the
64 m horizon ring reconciled with the detailed box by a difference ramped to zero over 512 m;
heights rounded to decimeters and quantized to 16 bits per 64 x 64 cell tile. The adapted heights
in data/terrain-L*.bin are shared under the same license.

TRAILS
Turrutebasen (Tur- og friluftsruter), © Kartverket.
Open data, no conditions apply to access and use
(http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/metadata-codelist/ConditionsApplyingToAccessAndUse/noConditionsApply).
Retrieved 2026-09-22 from the wfs.turogfriluftsruter WFS; feature versions to 2026-09-02.
Kartverket's own note on quality, which applies to the route drawn here: "Åpne data.
Datafangsten baserer seg stort sett på innmeldinger fra lag, foreninger og privatpersoner …
Kvaliteten på turrutene avhenger av de målemetodene eller registreringsmetodene som er brukt for
den enkelte turrute."
Adaptations: the Besseggen walk assembled as the shortest marked foot path from Gjendesheim to
Memurubu across the route graph, resampled every 25 m, heights sampled from the terrain above and
smoothed with a three-sample box; the four named connecting routes clipped to the detailed box.

LAKES, RIVERS AND GLACIERS
N50 Kartdata, © Kartverket, Creative Commons BY 4.0
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
Kommunes 3434 Lom and 3435 Vågå, downloaded 2026-09-22 through the Geonorge download API;
dataset updated 2026-09-19.
Adaptations: Innsjø and InnsjøRegulert rejoined across the kommune border on their lake number,
ElvBekk, Elv and SnøIsbre taken as they are; everything simplified to a 5 m tolerance and clipped
to the detailed box. Lake and glacier names joined from SSR, which is where the names live.

PLACE NAMES
Sentralt stedsnavnregister (SSR), © Kartverket, Creative Commons BY 4.0
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
Retrieved 2026-09-22 from ws.geonorge.no/stedsnavn/v1.
Adaptations: names inside the detailed box only; elevations sampled from the terrain, because SSR
carries none; SSR's navneobjekttype mapped to a small display vocabulary, with the original kept
in each feature's kindNo so the mapping can be checked.
Veslfjellet, the high point of the walk, is registered under the spelling Veslefjell (Fjell,
stedsnummer 71966), 28 m from the point the trail crosses. The app shows the common spelling and
credits the register's own; the marker sits on the trail, not on the register's point.

NOT USED
Kartverket's topographic raster map tiles. Nothing in the license records read on 2026-09-22 says
in terms that the tiles may be pre-cached for offline use, so they were left out rather than
shipped on a guess. The hillshade, slope shading, elevation banding and contours are all generated
from the elevation data instead.
DTM10, because DTM1 covers the whole area and using the coarser model would have been a silent
downgrade. The wcs.hoyde-dtm_somlos service, because it is Norge digitalt begrenset, not open.

RENDERING
three.js r186, MIT License (vendor/three-LICENSE.txt). The copy in vendor/ is byte for byte the
one vendored in the Anatomy mini-app in this repository; nothing in it reaches the network.
vendor/RoomEnvironment.js came with that copy and is not imported by this app.

FONTS
Ysabeau Office by Christian Thalmann (Catharsis Fonts), SIL Open Font License 1.1; a subset is in
fonts/ with its license.
The face carries its copyright in its license file, fonts/OFL.txt: "Copyright 2023 The Ysabeau
Project Authors (https://github.com/CatharsisFonts/Ysabeau)". Both files are byte for byte the
template's house copies (Global Weather's fonts/, cut from google/fonts commit

This is a planning and orientation tool. It has no position fix, no compass and no live weather,
and it is not a navigation aid. Besseggen is exposed and the weather turns fast: carry a map and
compass and check conditions before you go.
